Bancontact Company, formerly Bancontact Payconiq Company, is the leading player in electronic payments in Belgium. Since the creation of the Bancontact network in 1979, the company has continued to innovate to simplify the daily lives of consumers and merchants, from the Proton electronic wallet in 1995 to the launch of mobile payment by QR code in 2014, which made Belgium a pioneer in Europe.

The Bancontact Pay app allows consumers to make mobile payments simply and securely in a wide variety of situations: among friends, in shops, online, in restaurants, at the doctor's or at festivals. It also allows users to register loyalty cards, pay bills or split bills. Available to customers of 17 banks on iOS and Android, the app has 2 million users. 

The Bancontact card remains the benchmark for card payments. In 2025, the company recorded 1.9 billion card payments in shops, including 1.4 billion contactless payments. In total, the company recorded 2.5 billion payments in 2025, including 526 million mobile payments (+11.6%) and 393 million online payments via mobile solutions.
